Hello there!
My name in Maryam, I am a American-born dialect coach for French actors who want to try their hand at international auditions. Sounding like a native English speaker takes years of practice and immersion, but with the right coaching, you can soften your accent, be clearly understood by an English-speaking audience, perform with ease and nuance , and stay spontaneous . Specifically, I help actors with preparing self-tapes, audition & callback prep, cold reading practice, and scene work.
I have been coaching actors for the past six years, working predominantly with screen actors at every stage of their careers, from those preparing their very first self-tape to seasoned professionals who've been working in the industry for years.

Coaching sessions are results-oriented. A quick phone call before meeting helps me gage what is it you are aiming for: preparing a self-tape, applying for a role, practicing a scene, or improving your general spontaneity in English for networking.
To soften a French accent, we focus on sounds and patterns that simply do not exist in French, or that behave differently. We tackle the 'th' sounds, aspirated h's, and rhotic r's that French speakers often substitute or drop, along with consonant clusters that French phonology tends to smooth over. We also work on word stress which can feel unpredictable at first and often carries meaning. Minimal pair drills (ship/sheep, live/leave) sharpen the ear for distinctions that don't register as different in French but change meaning entirely in English.
Sounding "native" and being understood aren't the same goal, and intelligibility work leans harder on the second. We practice connected speech, how words link and blur together in natural conversation, so delivery doesn't sound clipped or overly deliberate. What I like to do is use shadowing and recording playback to help build an ear for these patterns, so eventually they become instinct rather than something you're actively managing mid-scene.
