À propos d'Agil
I am Agil Pirverdiyev, a FIDE Master and a FIDE-certified trainer based in Baku, Azerbaijan. I have been coaching chess for fifteen years and have worked with more than 100 students.
My record: 2411 in classical chess, 2508 in rapid. Under 16 World Champion in 2011, Under 14 European Champion, and a team silver medal at the Chess Olympiad. I also hold the FIDE arbiter title and have won open tournaments in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
I hold a Master's degree in Economics, which is why my coaching is built on clear plans and measurable progress instead of vague advice.
Note: les cours sont donnés en anglais. Je ne parle pas français, donc l'élève doit comprendre l'anglais suffisamment bien pour suivre la leçon. Pour les enfants, merci de vérifier ce point avant de réserver.

Every course begins with a free 30-minute meeting. I look at your games or play through a few positions with you, tell you honestly where your level stands, and we decide together what the first ten lessons should fix. Nothing is off the shelf: a 900-rated child and an 1800-rated club player follow completely different paths.
How a lesson works:
- A live video lesson on Lichess or Chess.com - you see my board, I see how you think.
- Openings: a compact, practical repertoire you can actually remember, chosen to suit your style.
- Middlegame: pawn structures, piece placement, and how to build a plan when nothing forcing is available.
- Endgames: the positions that actually decide games - rook endings, king and pawn, opposite-coloured bishops.
- Calculation and tactics: trained with timed exercises so the skill survives a real clock.
- Homework after every lesson, and your own games analysed move by move before the next one.
- Tournament preparation: opponent research, time management, and recovering after a loss.
I work with children from around six years old, adults returning to the game, and competitive players preparing for rated events. My students play in tournaments across Europe, the Gulf and Asia.
Packages: 5 lessons, or 10 lessons with one free - you pay for nine and we play ten.
