A typical lesson plan would focus on one aspect of grammar, for example, gerunds, and I would incorporate a variety of short activities which include using reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. New vocabulary would be drilled at the start of the lesson and would then be applied to each activity in order to promote retention. The following lesson will briefly recall upon previous learning, also known as accessing prior knowledge (APK in English). I am able to provide a structure which is in line with your requirements to supplement your learning and understanding but I could also create a bespoke development plan for the learner in order to improve weaker areas within the subject. This can be diagnosed from a free initial lesson with me upon completing a general assessment of English.
Having worked as a secondary school French teacher in a deprived area of the UK, I have become more resilient and patient within my profession. I am also an empathetic listener and I love to tailor my resources to each of my students' needs. I have received training in recognising and helping those with ADHD, autism and dyslexia, and I have experience teaching students in the past with a wide range of abilities and specific needs. I am highly energised, and I love imparting my knowledge of foreign languages onto others, because I think it is essential for others to know how exciting the world is beyond our door step. But especially English, which is a very important language to learn for several work industries. I am a native English speaker, born and raised in London, so I have a clear, neutral accent which is easy to understand.
I have experience teaching high school students in the UK (ages 11 to 18) and have taught GCSE French and Spanish, as well as teaching French grammar to A Level students. I am also TEFL qualified having taught Business English to adult students in the Czech Republic. I would be able to help people with preparation for the IELTS exam. I am happy to cater for a wide variety of ages, abilities and needs. I am also happy to teach individuals and small groups.
