Originally from Colombia and raised in Venezuela’s beautiful Isla de Margarita, Claudia discovered her passion for dance at a very young age. Inspired by her father—who taught her salsa and other traditional South American rhythms such as vallenato, gaita, porro, cumbia, and mapalé—she developed not only a deep love for music but also a unique connection to Latin culture. Growing up in Margarita, Claudia was immersed in a vibrant mix of Caribbean and Latin traditions. Her grandfather, a dance instructor in Colombia, instilled in her the importance of mastering the fundamentals—around 40 essential steps that form the foundation of Latin dance. For Claudia, dance is more than movement; it is a universal language, a way to connect, and a path to joy and confidence. At 27, Claudia moved to Belgium after meeting her husband, Marc. Leaving behind her career as a university teacher, she chose to follow her passion for dance and began teaching salsa in Leuven. Her classes are true to the Latin spirit: no rigid counting, but rather learning through rhythm, flow, and feeling. She blends styles from Venezuela, Colombia (Cali), and Cuba, with special attention to technique—hand positioning, footwork, taps, and body tension—all while keeping the experience fun and authentic.

Teaching Style & Methods Claudia believes that dance should be natural, joyful, and stress-free. That’s why her teaching method follows the authentic Latin American approach: no rigid counting, but instead focusing on rhythm, body movement, and connection. She combines traditional salsa steps from Venezuela, Colombia (Cali style), and Cuba, while paying attention to details such as posture, hand positioning, stepping, and body coordination. Her classes are dynamic, fun, and filled with the energy of true Latin spirit. A Typical Class Every class starts with a warm-up to connect body and rhythm. Students then learn and practice basic steps, gradually building into partner work, musicality, and style. Claudia always emphasizes repetition, rhythm awareness, and natural flow, ensuring that every student feels comfortable on the dance floor. Classes end with dancing to music, allowing students to immediately apply what they’ve learned in a lively and motivating atmosphere. What Makes Claudia Unique as a Teacher Authentic Latin roots: raised in Colombia and Venezuela, dance has always been part of her culture and family tradition. A cultural mix: her style blends Venezuelan, Colombian, and Cuban salsa, offering students a rich and varied learning experience.
