À propos de Zachary
I have spent the last several years working at the intersection of high-level research and practical teaching. My journey began in the US at Biola University and continued through the University of Edinburgh, eventually leading me to my current doctoral research at the University of Geneva. This international path has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in different academic environments and how to help students meet those diverse expectations.
Beyond my own studies, I have experience as a Director of Christian Catechesis in Lausanne, where I’ve had the pleasure of teaching a wide range of people, from teenagers to adults. I've taught English, dance, karate, speech and debate, as well as an assortment of other subjects. I also regularly present my research at international conferences and publish in academic journals, which keeps my writing and analytical skills sharp. My goal as a tutor is to bring that same level of professional clarity to our sessions, helping you navigate your coursework with confidence.

I’m a big believer in "Active Mentorship" which basically means I don’t just sit and lecture at you. Instead, I focus on breaking down those heavy academic concepts into clear, logical ideas that actually make sense. My goal is to help you develop the tools to handle these subjects on your own, so I use a conversational, Socratic style to make sure the knowledge really sticks. A typical session usually starts with a quick chat about what’s been giving you trouble, followed by some "hands-on" work like real-time essay editing or conversation. We always wrap up by applying what we’ve talked about to a specific task, so you leave the lesson with a clear plan for the week.
I love helping students find their own "academic voice," especially if you’re a non-native speaker looking to polish your English for university-level work. These sessions are perfect for university students in the humanities who need a hand with thesis structure, or high schoolers getting ready for the Maturité or IB exams. Whether you’re struggling with a specific historical period or just want to make your essays flow better, I provide a relaxed, structured environment tailored to whatever you need to succeed.
