À propos de Serena
Hello, I’m Serena.
I am a native Mandarin speaker and speak French and English fluently.
I started learning French from scratch more than 10 years ago and went on to live, study and work in Paris for 9 years. This journey gave me a strong understanding of both academic French and the French used in everyday and professional life.
I studied at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in English and Economic Culture. I later obtained a Master’s degree in Digital Management & E-commerce from Sup de Pub Paris.
My professional background is also highly international. In Paris, I worked as an B2B Client Relationship Manager for the EMEA region, managing relationships with international clients across different markets.
I also participated in the operations of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in an international professional environment.
I later worked in Singapore in the insurance sector with a global insurance group listed on the S&P 500, in a multicultural and English-speaking environment.
Today, I work full-time in Singapore as a Mandarin teacher at a language centre, where I teach local and international students in a multicultural and bilingual environment.
Alongside my professional teaching experience, I have also been teaching languages online for several years.
Having learned French myself from zero and then spent 9 years living and working in Paris, I understand the difficulties that foreign learners can face when learning French.
I know what it feels like to be the student who does not understand everything yet.
That is why I aim to make French clear, practical and approachable, especially for beginners who may feel overwhelmed when starting a new language.

Learning French can be challenging, especially at the beginning.
Pronunciation, listening comprehension, verb conjugations, gender, prepositions, sentence structure and vocabulary can quickly become overwhelming. And knowing the rules is one thing, actually feeling comfortable speaking is another.
Because I learned French from scratch myself, I understand these difficulties and know how important it is to build a strong foundation before moving on to more complex concepts.
My lessons are structured around your level, your goals and the difficulties you encounter.
Rather than following a fixed programme, I adapt the content, pace and exercises to what you actually need.

I place particular emphasis on pronunciation and speaking, while making sure that grammar and vocabulary are properly understood.
When something is difficult, I can explain it in English or Mandarin, especially during the early stages of learning. As your French improves, the goal is to gradually use more French during our lessons.
