Career History as a Translator & Teacher
September 1988 – June 1989 – French Assistant in 2 Secondary Schools
I taught as a "French Assistant" in two British 6th Form Colleges in Liverpool and tutored mature students.
June 1989 – September 1989 - Trainee Translator
Under the supervision of an experienced freelance translator, I undertook the translation/proof-reading of part of an operating system/documentation, and software rebuilding/testing. In September 1989, I returned to France to resume my university degree.
April 1990 - October 1993 - Phoenix Technical Publications Ltd & TMS Computer Authors Ltd
As part of my degree, in April 1990, I joined a UK company, Phoenix Technical Publications Ltd, to do a 6 weeks working practise in the capacity of Translation Administrator. After I passed my degree in 1991, I was kept on the pay-roll and promoted to the role of Translation Support Assistant. In October 1992, following the insolvency of Phoenix, I joined TMS as a Translation/DTP Assistant, soon promoted to the role of Junior Translator. In October 1993, following the restructuring of TMS, I decided to set up as a Freelance French Translator & Teacher - a role I have been enjoying to date.
October 1993 to date – Freelance Translator and Teacher/Tutor & Trainer
As a Freelance Translator, my services include quality controlling/proof-reading, translating, and post editing, to national & international translation agencies & companies (software & hardware). I specialise in the fields of general IT (websites, hardware/software), Electronics, Printing, Code of Ethics, Competition Laws, various in-house training applications, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), tourism.
As a French Teacher/Tutor, I teach all levels & all ages – Children/Beginners, Junior/Leaving Cert., University, College, Business/Professionals, Holidays Refreshers. I tailor my tuition to my client’s needs. I help my students increase their concentration, self-confidence/self-esteem, eliminate all fears of public speaking. I teach the French grammar, conjugaison, all aspects of the language, and show my students how to quickly become really good at French. I also teach tips & techniques to remember and learn “by heart” more easily and to pronounce correctly those tricky French words.
As a French Consultant, I help SMEs & larger companies train their staff on the French vocabulary, grammar & specific jargon related to their field of expertise.
In 2004, I left the UK and moved in Foulksmills, Co. Wexford, with my Irish husband and my sons.
Other Information & Training What my students say about me & my French tuition
“I have learnt more in one hour than in more than 3 years!!!”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed our sessions and would certainly recommend your services.””
“I honestly can’t recommend Veronique enough. She is not only an excellent French teacher but she is also such a lovely person. Her approach to teaching French was honestly refreshing and I always felt energized and confident in the language leaving her class. She created a friendly and comfortable learning space that I looked forward to each week. Véronique always went above and beyond in helping me and I can’t thank her enough. A brilliant teacher and a remarkable lady.”
“Very good. Very helpful. Very nice. Improved confidence and reduced pre-exam stress.”
Professional Business Memberships & Affiliations - I am an active member of the following groups:

The Clongeen Baby & Toddler Group – I am the Vice-Chairperson of this successful group which I started with a friend 3 years ago. The group came about as we identified a lack of suitable service for the local young parents.
